Crafting a Dynamic & Inspiring Workspace in Middlewich

Delta Balustrades, a long-standing family business specialising in safety balustrades and handrails, embarked on a significant project to relocate its office from Sandbach to a new, separate building in Middlewich.

This move represented a substantial investment for the company, with a core vision of creating a high-quality, inspiring workspace for its employees.

The company’s goal was to enhance the employee experience by providing a modern, ergonomic, and acoustically optimised workspace. Our case study highlights custom design, acoustic solutions, and a focus on employee well-being.

The brief

  • Delta Balustrades had a clear idea of what they wanted, having already done some initial space planning. To achieve their goals, Delta Balustrades outlined several key requirements for the new office design.
  • The company aimed to create a variety of work zones, which included executive rooms, collaborative spaces, and a dedicated canteen, providing the team with comfortable areas to relax and eat.
  • A significant focus was placed on achieving excellent acoustics, addressing previous tenants’ feedback regarding noise issues in the building. This involved specific requests for acoustic-dampening solutions, such as fabric screens, PET ceiling baffles, and individual phone booths.
  • Additionally, the client prioritised high-quality ergonomic seating that strikes a balance between aesthetic appeal and proper support. To ensure the final design aligned with their vision, the ability to visualise the space before making any commitments was an essential part of the process.

The design

The design process was highly collaborative and commenced with a referral from an exhibition, where Delta Balustrades was impressed by the furniture from the Narbutas range.

The design team at iQ Workspace engaged the client in a live, real-time 3D space planning session via Teams, enabling them to visualise the furniture layout and flow of the new office.

After a meeting with Bob from the Head of Sales team, who visited the team in Sandbach and presented several chair options and colour swatches showcasing the features, the client’s colour scheme that matched their brand.

We provided digital renders and 3D mock-ups with precise furniture placement, taking into consideration lighting and acoustics to optimise the workspace.

The Results

The new office for Delta Balustrades successfully met and exceeded the client’s expectations by providing a modern, comfortable, and acoustically sound environment that reflects a strong commitment to their employees.

This was achieved through a highly collaborative process and meticulous attention to detail, from initial 3D design to the final installation.

The result is a workspace that not only addresses a key business challenge but also enhances employee well-being and positions the company for a successful new chapter in its Middlewich location.
